Exhibit A: these set of Angela Bassett gifs…
And she’s timeless!
Basically, Angela Bassett looked Father Time in the face…
and told him to move the hell on.
Queen. Goddess. Extreme Enunciator. The Ageless Acting Phenom, Angela Bassett.
I really did need an Angela Bassett appreciation post in my life because her career has spanned almost three decades of pure amazingnes and she does not get nearly enough praise.
if anyone ever calls you a slut just say ‘and yet i still won’t fuck you’ and then blow them a kiss as you saunter away because that’s the closest they’re ever gonna get to your magnificence, o smaug, chiefest and greatest of calamaties
Ladies real talk
i’m gonna go on a mini-rant right here because this is the dumbest, sexist, slut-shaming coonery i’ve seen in a minute:
the only person that should have influence in your daughter’s life is YOU and HER MOTHER. WHY IS NICKI RESPONSIBLE FOR INFLUENCING HOW YOUR DAUGHTER IS RAISED?
actually, nicki is big on empowering young females on their education. but, she’s also a grown ass woman. stop policing what she does and be a good parent. nicki shouldn’t have any influence in your household. nicki doesn’t have to shrink herself or her sexuality for your comfort.
and you mention the late maya angelou as well? sir, did you not know she was a sex worker? not that it matters, but it shows that a woman’s sexuality and morals are two different things. she was sweet, wise, and would be disgusted by your mention in your black woman slut-shaming tirade.
where were the open letters for rick ross, sir? i see a letter when a woman shows HER ass on HER cover yet you’ve written nothing about date rape references or the overall sexism towards female rappers…oh wait, you’re adding to the sexism.
sir, how about stop trying to parent nicki minaj and running a trash hip hop blog site, just learn how to be a somewhat decent parent.
Maybe it’s just me but that Father has a point, influences start at home but can come from many other places as well, the only way for his daughter not to see it is if she lived in a bubble
and? you obviously didn’t read much of my response because now he has to parents ADULT nicki minaj too? no celebrity should shrink themselves for the children, because you know why?
because who the fuck cares. you need to be over 13 to be on instagram, where the post was originally was. if it’s the parents job to explain what children see and (if they feel so) patrol what they see.
me and a lot of young women grew up with WAY more explicit images, but hearing trina talk about sex didn’t encourage me to go out and throw it back at randoms. no no no. if i had a question about an image or a song lyric, i was explained everything LIKE A PARENT SHOULD. never did my mom say some dumb shit like “trina shouldn’t be rappin that” or “i have a daughter lil kim shouldn’t wear that” because it’s stupid.
these celebrities don’t give a fuck about you guys’ prudish, slut shaming morals, or parent someone else’s children; nor should they.
By this article we don’t what type of parent he is, he could be the best Dad in the world or the worst neither you nor I know that. I also agree that we shouldn’t place celebrities in such high standing but, to a child that concept is not fully grasped in most cases and you would be naive to think that follow trends and look up to a figure such as nicki minaj. Who is buying her music mostly kids that age because anybody my age is downloading it. And IG is where the pic released but it’s a single it surely will find it’s way to spotify, iTunes, and other music outlets. I’m not seeing how is slut shaming either but only making a point that he wouldn’t want his daughter to see that or grow up and do such which any man or father wouldn’t.
it’s slut shaming because this article letter is literally saying “with your ass out on a g-string you are a bad influence on my daughter. how dare you show off your own body and be proud. women need to be covered up to be respectable”.
and i don’t know how old his daughter is, and it shouldn’t matter. i’ve seen naked females my entire life and it hasn’t influenced me negatively.
nicki minaj even says herself she isn’t a role model for children, so the man is naïve to put her in such a position. if the girl is old enough to buy her music then she is old enough to know about body image.
it’s literally just buttocks. everyone has them. so overly sexualizing them and making it seem like every girl is going to buy a g-string and prop down like this is ridiculous.
but i mean, hey, i was raised not to be ashamed of my body so my views will differ from yours.
Well said. If you will blame and shame a woman about her body and turn around and give a male a high five for treating women as nothing more than sexual objects who are you to say who is the bad influence. It’s not nicki who’s telling his daughter she’s nothing more than her body, it’s her father who is telling her to cover up her body because obviously it makes men uncomfortable and we all know men can’t control themselves. How bout you teach your daughter if your comfortable in your skin hide from no one, and no matter how you show off your body you still deserve respect. Raise your child monitor what he or she does, watches and listens to and above all how they treat each other. If Chris brown can say these hoes ain’t loyal along with every other male rapper who’s degraded or disrespected women with no problem then nicki can show the world her ass and feel no regret.
